TECHNICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER

For this position, you'll be working in the overground rail engineering team of a leading name in the industry. This particular department deals with client interfaces, aids in the preparation of design work and then liaises with the client regarding any comments, changes or additional work required. The team also carry out design and compliance verification through inspections and liaison with the testing and commissioning team.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> As Engineering Manager (Overground Rail), you will be responsible for making sure all engineering work is implemented in accordance with client requirements, from design to construction, testing, commissioning and final handover. You will plan and manage these design, testing and commissioning activities for projects under your control.<o:p></o:p> The procedures you implement must be in line with company policies. You'll liaise with other engineering departments (attending regular meetings to review progress) and make sure your team have the resources to carry out their job effectively. COMMISSIONING MANAGER

You'll be engaged on rail related projects concerned with power supplies, acting as the Commissioning Manager on a permanent basis. You'll be expected to ensure that work is completed in accordance with specifications set out during the design stage by drawing up testing and commissioning plans and strategies. You will co-ordinate the witnessing and testing, making sure any errors are reported.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> Main Duties:<o:p></o:p> - Preparation of testing and commissioning strategies and setting of standards.<o:p></o:p> - Co-ordination of testing and commissioning works, including interfaces with client and other contractors on site. As Commissioning Manager, you will set the standard, with the Engineering Manager implementing and planning it.<o:p></o:p> - Liaison with the design team.<o:p></o:p> - Making sure the commissioning team has adequate resources to carry out their tasks and that the engineers engaged in the work are competent.<o:p></o:p> You'll make sure the above can be continually monitored through regular meetings and reviews of requirements and procedures.<o:p></o:p> To be considered, you must have a background working in the commissioning of electrical systems for the railways. Therefore, an appreciation of DC and AC electrification systems is essential, as is the ability to manage staff. You should possess a thorough knowledge of Network Rail and LUL standards and CDM regulations.
